The Speaker - MARK LAFFERTY
Mark’s most famous product was the gaming stool designed for CROWN casino in Melbourne. They invited him to a meeting which included architects, interior designers, casino managers and the cleaning and maintenance staff. They all had certain requirements that were often very different and very hard to work into the one product. The end result Mark offered met all of these requirements and went on to be the most successful gaming stool in the world. It has sold over 250,000 units and is still selling strong today 15 years later.
Mark believes that to be a successful designer you have to experience all sides of the product or venue i.e. be a customer, be a barman, be a builder, be a cleaner, and be an owner, and with the products you need to have hands on experience in actually building furniture. Mark has over the years worked on the factory floor as an upholsterer, cabinet maker, welder, spray polisher and assembly and packing. He has also worked as a salesman. This varied experience allows him to be able to judge a product’s real worth as well as come up with viable solutions for designs that meet all of the needs of his clients.
You are invited to register early for a place at the seminar which is on a first-come-first-served basis. The registration fee is RM100, inclusive of seminar materials, lunch and refreshment.
